Biography of Gregory M. Brown
Gregory M. Brown is a New York-based SAG-AFTRA actor, screenwriter, director, producer and photographer who was born and bred on the other side of the Hudson River in New Jersey. He is of Irish, English, Scottish, Dutch, German descent. He has to his credit 40+ roles in films, TV, Web series and Theater with award winning Independent films “The Comedy (2012)” as the ER Doctor, starring Tim Heidecker, and “Wet Behind the Ears (2013)” as Mr. Bronson, starring Maggie Williams. Other films include “Hiding Place (2010)” as the antagonist, Charles Shinmann, Stephen King’s “Willa” (2012) as Henry Lander, and recent short films “Deep Water” as the Father, starring James Lee Taylor and Rachel Barrer. He has been cast as the lead in the proposed cable television political drama “Enlightenments” as Archbishop Gilbert Belloc and has recurring roles in the new western series Big Sky as Lionel Frost and The Familia, as Charlie Shea. He also has a recurring role in the web series When It Goes Wrong with Stephen Tenner.
Greg’s interest in acting came as a young boy watching his father who was a stage actor and musician up until his parents divorced when he was six years old. Greg took parts in church and school produced plays while growing up but didn’t pursue the acting profession until his retirement from business in 2005. He recently completed writing the screenplay Mina & Michael that is scheduled to go into production in 2017-18 and the screenplays McPherson and Eastern Citrus currently in development.
He also spent 25 plus years as an active duty and active reservist with the U.S. Navy, as a 2nd Class Petty Officer, with a tour in Vietnam and eventually retiring as Master Sergeant in the Army National Guard/U.S. Army Reserve in 2008.
Greg had an extensive 36 year business career in IT as a Systems Analyst, Programmer Analyst and Business Analyst in the area of finance and accounting, working for companies such as IBM as a Senior Project Manager, and J.P. Morgan Chase as a Vice President, IT Project Management Office overseeing some of its major financial projects worldwide.
Greg is also a licensed private pilot, an avid sailor, and a photographer. As a retiree, Greg has been an active Emergency Medical Technician providing 911 Emergency Medical Services in the cities and towns of Newark, Irvington, Orange and East Orange, New Jersey when not acting. He has a love for music playing Jazz, Rock and Classical Guitar in his spare time.
